The last pieces of TSR is now successfully moved into our new state of the art cloud facility at Amazon. You should notice by now how much faster the site is in every way. This means we are now doing the final touches to version 8 of TSR, a huge facelift that will further improve your experience here. We hope to have a public beta available within the next few weeks.

Good....at least you are keeping us updated on the move.....I wish you and TSR a smooth and easy (hopefully for all of the techs--I know all about moves such as this-I'm a tech too) transition to Cloud.... Can't wait to see the improved site and connection.....will this also bring back the sims2pack download option too?
Hopefully it won't take too long.....a couple of hours like you have stated...until then I will await the results....

Good luck, TSR!
I hope this adds more awesome content to the website, like more programs (TSR workshop, TSR wizard, etc.)!

i feel a little stupid asking but what do you meen with moving it "to the cloud"?
On Feb 9, 2012 mtnmouse wrote:
So when the move is complete, will the website address be the same, or will we need to update it to the V8 version, for example
V8.thesimsresource.com. ? I know when the trial of it was going on a few months ago, we needed that to get to that page.
On Feb 9, 2012 Thomas|TSR wrote:
It will be the same as before and no, this is only a move to faster and better servers to increase site stability and uptime. The launch of the new design is still a few weeks away.

Hope it will be quicker :< Cause sometimes was too laggy.

I can't upload anymore for sims 2. I always get the message that the category tree couldn't be loaded. Is this due to the update? Will it be solved soon?

I also hope that uploading system (especially for the Sims 2) will be fixed. I wish I could upload two mesh files in one zip file again (bodymesh+template texture), because now it's impossible

I don't understand with it . What do you mean with "Move to Cloud" ?
and then, we will use URL : v8.thesimsresource.com or still www.thesimsresource.com?
and I can't used some my favorite emoticon on comment, hope will be fixed

I understand the purpose of the move but to be honest you say we "should notice how much faster the site is in every way". Sorry but what I see is how many things are slower or not working at all or are very spasmodic, Like PM's, Forums not loading, pageviews on mini site not updating. Will these things be sorted out soon? or will it be like EA does, bang it through anyway and patch it later.

The forums are not loading for me either. I hope this will be fixed. Thank you.

jasper321, the forums (and PM's) are hosted by a third party and not under our control. The pageviews on minisites script was one of the last to be ported over and has nothing to do with overall performance of the site. But I hope you DO notice just how much faster the site has become in every aspect when you browse and download. We have decided to leave v7 in it's current state of mode and focus all our efforts on getting version 8 out as soon as possible so there will be no patching from now on.

For those wondering, we will launch a beta shortly and that will have it's own subdomain. When the beta is over and we are ready to launch version 8 it will be on the www domain (replace v7). We will keep v7 up and running on a subdomain during a transition period however.

Hi Thomas, Yes I have noticed that in certain apects browsing the site has become faster. There has been a few hiccups
though and I appreciate that it must be a lot of work to get them all ironed out. I can't help it if when I can't get to stuff I get withdrawal symptoms and grumpy.
I agree with christina832010 and I also love this site, so I'll just be patient and wish you all the luck for a smooth transition to version 8. Great work and thank you.
